Why am I doing a toile (mock up)? There are several main reasons,
1, I need to make sure that the coat will fit, I wouldn't be happy if I got to the end and it didn't.
2, so I can draw up the foundation designs so I can see what the end result might look like.
I'm substituting polycotton for cotton, felt for batting and satin for lining. There is no real reason for this apart from, its what I've got in my workroom that needs using up!
It will give me an idea of what it will look like, how it will quilt and how it will feel.
I will still do samples of foundation piecing and free motion quilting, as well as using what I learnt when doing my bed quilt.
